Turbin sees defence-led parallels ahead of Texans-Colts meeting
The CBS analyst compares Houston’s profile with his former Seahawks team as both Houston and Indianapolis seek a first win.
CBS analyst Robert Turbin will call Houston’s Week 3 game against Indianapolis, alongside play-by-play commentator Tom McCarthy and sideline reporter Tiffany Blackmon. Both teams enter the matchup 0-2.
Turbin, a former Seattle Seahawks running back, said Houston’s defence-led profile reminded him of the early-2010s Seattle team, which won the Super Bowl in the 2013 season. He described a strong defence as a “security blanket” for the offence, allowing it to recover from mistakes.
The Texans have allowed 56 points across losses to Buffalo and Cincinnati. Turbin said Houston now needs to play “complementary football”, adding that the team was not doing so at a high level.
Houston’s losses have presented different challenges: Buffalo’s Josh Allen led an opening shootout, while Cincinnati held the Texans without a touchdown in four red-zone trips last week. Houston outgained the Bengals by more than 100 yards.
Indianapolis also arrives winless after taking Kansas City to overtime before losing. Houston has won its past five meetings with the Colts, each by one score.
