Trump launches White House YouTube stream amid escalating media dispute

US President Donald Trump has launched “Trump TV: The Essentials Station”, a White House-run, round-the-clock YouTube stream carrying speeches, administration announcements, ceremonial events and selected presidential highlights.
The channel is an online video stream rather than a conventional television network. It has no anchors, reporters or original journalism, according to Al Jazeera Global News, which reported the launch amid an escalating dispute between the White House and news organisations.
The stream began after CNN, MS NOW and Politico were reportedly barred from reporting from the White House. The outlets have sued the Trump administration, alleging that the restrictions denied them First Amendment rights.
The dispute also disrupted the White House television press pool. ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox News and NBC share responsibility for filming presidential events and providing live feeds, but the other four networks reportedly declined to replace CNN after it was excluded from the rotation.
The resulting gap was highlighted at a White House ribbon-cutting ceremony, which Newsmax broadcast with live visuals but no audio because no television press pool was present. The Associated Press, The Washington Post and The New York Times also decided not to publish photographs taken by the White House photography pool.
Trump has used Truth Social to communicate directly with supporters and accuse news organisations of publishing “fake news”, without providing examples in the source material. The available reporting does not establish the new channel’s audience, operating arrangements or longevity.
