Trump and Macron scheduled for New York meeting during UN gathering
The White House says the US and French presidents will meet on Monday as both attend the United Nations General Assembly.
US President Donald Trump is scheduled to meet French President Emmanuel Macron in New York on Monday, 21 September, while both leaders attend the United Nations General Assembly.
The White House announced the meeting, which Trump’s published schedule lists for 5:35pm local time, or 2135 GMT. The source material does not specify an agenda or expected outcome.
Macron travelled to New York from Saint Pierre and Miquelon, a French territory off Canada’s Atlantic coast, where he met Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on Sunday.
Macron and Carney discussed stronger France–Canada ties, including security, energy and prospective liquefied natural gas shipments to Europe.
Macron is also expected to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the General Assembly. The timing and outcome of that meeting have not been provided.
