TreVeyon Henderson ruled out of Patriots’ season opener
New England will face Seattle without its leading rookie contributor from last season, while centre Ben Brown is also unavailable.
New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson has been ruled out of the season opener against the Seattle Seahawks with an ankle injury, according to Fox Sports.
Henderson missed all three of the Patriots’ practices during the week and has not trained since suffering the injury on 24 August. The source did not provide an expected return date or assess the severity of the injury.
Centre Ben Brown has also been ruled out with a knee injury. Fox Sports reported that no other New England players carried injury designations before the game.
Henderson was a finalist for NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year last season after leading the Patriots in scrimmage yards and touchdowns. He recorded 911 rushing yards, nine rushing touchdowns, 35 receptions, 221 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown.
Rhamondre Stevenson is expected to assume the lead-back role for New England. The Patriots open their campaign in Seattle after losing to the Seahawks in Super Bowl LX.
