Five-star basketball prospect DeMarcus Henry has offered a detailed account of his second official visit to the University of Connecticut, citing the program’s culture and coaching staff as primary factors in his evaluation. The nation’s top-ranked small forward toured the campus in Storrs between 9 and 11 September, a period that coincides with UConn’s active construction of its 2027 recruiting class, which already includes five-star combo guard NaVorro Bowman Jr.
In a video recap posted to his "GOAT Access" social media page on 17 September, Henry focused on the interpersonal dynamics within the locker room rather than purely athletic metrics. He described head coach Dan Hurley as a "great person" and "probably the funniest dude I've ever met," noting that all the coaches were "great people" off the court. This emphasis on character aligns with the institutional branding of the program, which seeks to balance high-pressure training with a supportive environment.
Henry specifically highlighted the physical demands of the UConn practice regimen as a key point of interest. "What excited me the most was how hard they get pushed in practice," he stated. Henry, the son of former NFL wide receiver Chris Henry, currently plays for AZ Compass in the EYBL Scholastic league. He averages nearly 13 points and 8.4 rebounds per game, while also contributing more than three combined steals and blocks. His physical profile, which includes a 6-foot-11 wingspan, is viewed as a strong fit for Hurley’s hard-nosed system.
