Thieneman’s first interception anchors Bears’ 27–7 win over Eagles
Chicago’s rookie safety led the team with six tackles and intercepted Andy Dalton near the goal line, with Jalen Hurts out for concussion evaluation.
The Chicago Bears beat the Philadelphia Eagles 27–7 on Monday Night Football, with rookie safety Dillon Thieneman recording his first NFL interception.
Thieneman led Chicago with six tackles. His interception came on third-and-goal from the Bears’ two-yard line, after Andy Dalton entered the game while Jalen Hurts was being evaluated for a concussion.
Dalton’s pass, intended for Dontayvion Wicks, was intercepted by Thieneman near the goal line. The play halted Philadelphia’s scoring opportunity.
Yahoo Sports’ Bears Wire report says Thieneman has led Chicago in tackles in each of the team’s first three games. The Bears drafted him 25th overall in the first round.
The report also notes rookie Malik Muhammad II started ahead of veteran Tyrique Stevenson, who later entered after Cam Lewis was injured.
