Harbaugh calls on Herbert and Chargers offence to improve
After Los Angeles’ 24–16 loss to Buffalo, the coach pointed to the quarterback and wider offence as the team searches for a fix.
Los Angeles Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh called for more from quarterback Justin Herbert and the offence after the team’s 24–16 loss to the Buffalo Bills. The Chargers remain winless.
“Be better. Be better,” Harbaugh said of Herbert’s play, according to CBS Sports. A week earlier, he had said he “wouldn’t change a thing about Justin”.
Herbert said the team needed to work out why its offence was struggling and find a way to fix it. Harbaugh said the team needed to examine its scheme, performance and execution.
CBS Sports cited Herbert’s QBR of 27.4, a 59.1 per cent completion rate and an interception in each of his starts. The report also said three drops and five third-quarter penalties hampered Los Angeles against Buffalo.
The Chargers’ next four listed opponents are the Seahawks, Broncos, Chiefs and Rams. Mike McDaniel is three games into his stint as offensive coordinator.
