Texas takes No. 1 in AP Top 25 after comeback win over Ohio State
Texas rallied from 20 points down in the fourth quarter to beat Ohio State 24–23, reshaping the top of the Associated Press poll.
Texas has moved to No. 1 in The Associated Press Top 25 after a 24–23 win over Ohio State, completing a 20-point fourth-quarter comeback. The Longhorns received 56 first-place votes.
The result pushed Ohio State to No. 6, its first exit from the top five in two seasons. The Buckeyes had held the top ranking in 17 of the previous 20 polls and were No. 1 throughout the previous regular season.
Georgia remained second and Notre Dame third, while Indiana rose to No. 4 and Miami moved to No. 5. LSU, Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Alabama completed the remainder of the top 10 alongside Texas and Ohio State.
Oregon fell 15 places to No. 21 after a 39–31 loss to Oklahoma State. It was Oregon’s first defeat to an unranked opponent since 2021.
Michigan returned to the poll at No. 19 after beating No. 11 Oklahoma 17–10. Oklahoma dropped 13 places to No. 24, while Washington fell out of the rankings after a 16–14 win over Utah State.
