VR exercise platform Supernatural is getting a second chance as an independent company
Supernatural Health to launch on Meta Quest this autumn as original Meta-owned version sunsets in December

Supernatural, a virtual reality fitness application previously owned by Meta, is being re-established as an independent entity named Supernatural Health. The new app is scheduled for release this autumn on the Meta Quest platform, offering a continuation of the service after Meta announced major cuts across its VR and metaverse division, including layoffs and the shuttering of three studios.

While the original Supernatural app will remain available until its sunset on 3 December, it will cease receiving new content. Meta had previously announced that the popular exercise app would no longer be updated with fresh workouts or songs. The legacy application will be fully discontinued on that date, requiring users to migrate to the new independent service.

The re-launched Supernatural Health app will feature returning coaches, a key element that reviewers had previously described as making the experience surprisingly effective for VR fitness enthusiasts. However, the transition comes with a significant increase in subscription costs. Annual subscriptions will rise from $100 to $180, while monthly plans will double from $10 to $20.

It remains unclear whether the new independent company will be able to port the app to platforms other than Meta Quest, or what schedule will govern the release of new songs and workouts. The financial impact of the price increase on user retention and content volume is also speculative at this stage.

Despite the recent restructuring of its VR division, Meta continues to insist that another standalone headset is in active development. A company memo suggests that the upcoming Meta Quest 4 headset will be a large upgrade over the Quest 3 but may come at a higher price point, further shaping the landscape for VR content providers like the newly independent Supernatural Health.
