Sudanese army claims capture of North Kordofan town
The Sudanese Armed Forces say taking al-Mazroub could disrupt Rapid Support Forces supply routes, but the reported gain has not been independently confirmed.

Sudan’s armed forces say they have taken full control of al-Mazroub in North Kordofan after fighting with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The claim was reported by Al Jazeera, which cited army special forces spokesman Mohamed Deidan.
Deidan described the town as a link between army-held North Kordofan and RSF-held West Kordofan, and said its capture was intended to cut the RSF’s supply lines. The supplied reporting provides no independent confirmation of the capture or its effect on those routes.
Separately, the army’s Fourth Infantry Division said an operation on Saturday in Blue Nile state inflicted heavy losses on RSF and Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) fighters and equipment, and halted an advance towards army positions. The RSF had not commented on the claims at the time of publication.
Blue Nile Governor Ahmed al-Omda Badi also said RSF drones targeted his residence and were intercepted by air defences. He gave no details of damage or casualties; the RSF had not commented on his account.
The claims come amid a war that began in April 2023. The RSF retains control of much of western Sudan, including almost all of Darfur and parts of Kordofan, while the wider conflict remains unresolved.
