Israelis gathered at Tel Aviv’s Hostages Square for the final weekly hostages protest before the third anniversary of the 7 October attack, France 24 reported. Protesters said they wanted to commemorate the victims and called for an independent state inquiry into the events and decisions leading to the assault.

Israeli authorities say the Hamas-led attack killed around 1,200 people in Israel and led to more than 250 people being taken hostage.

Separately, an Israeli strike hit a civilian vehicle in Gaza on Sunday, killing one Palestinian and wounding at least 11, according to France 24. Israel’s military said it was targeting a Hamas militant. The report did not independently establish the identity of the person targeted or detail the circumstances of the casualties.

France 24 also reported that Palestinians had described increased Israeli fire and airstrikes across Gaza over the past month. It said more than 75,000 people had been killed and much of the enclave destroyed.
