The incident occurred on Monday at approximately 4:40 pm local time, striking a site identified as a major hub for fireworks production in central China. While the specific causes of the blast remain undetermined, official outlets CCTV and Xinhua have confirmed the casualty figures as preliminary, noting that the death toll may fluctuate as investigations continue.
In response to the disaster, President Xi Jinping has directed a thorough investigation into the event. Beyond the immediate inquiry, the President has instructed relevant authorities to strengthen risk screening and hazard control mechanisms within key industries. Rescue efforts at the site have mobilised nearly 500 personnel to manage the complex environment.
