Spurs force Game 7 in Western Conference Finals with dominant victory over Thunder
Victor Wembanyama records historic postseason feat as Spurs erase Game 5 deficit to level series at 3-3

The San Antonio Spurs have forced a decisive Game 7 in the NBA Western Conference Finals, routing the Oklahoma City Thunder 118-91 on Thursday night. The victory levels the best-of-seven series at 3-3, sending the final contest to Oklahoma City on Saturday night. The winner of the series is scheduled to host the New York Knicks in Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday.
Victor Wembanyama anchored the Spurs’ performance with 28 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks. The 7-foot-4 star joined Hall of Famers David Robinson and Tim Duncan as the only players in franchise history to record five games of 25 points and 10 rebounds in a single postseason. Wembanyama opened the game with two three-pointers and a block in the first 90 seconds, establishing an early 9-2 lead that set the tone for San Antonio’s defensive intensity.
The turning point of the match occurred in the third quarter, where the Spurs outscored the Thunder 22-0. This dominant stretch extended San Antonio’s lead to 92-64 with 56 seconds remaining in the period, effectively securing the victory. The Spurs also demonstrated offensive efficiency in the first quarter, making eight three-pointers, their highest total in any postseason quarter this year.
Supporting Wembanyama, Dylan Harper contributed 18 points off the bench, while Stephon Castle added 17 and Devin Vassell scored 12 points with two blocks. The Spurs’ performance served as a critical bounce-back following a 127-114 loss in Game 5 on Tuesday night, which had placed them on the brink of elimination. The average margin of victory in the series has been 15.3 points, with the Spurs winning by an average of 18.3 points in their three victories.
Oklahoma City’s defending champion status was challenged by limited production from key players. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was held to a team-high 15 points on 6-for-18 shooting. Jalen Williams returned to the lineup after missing three games due to a hamstring injury but was limited to one point on 0-for-1 shooting in 10 minutes. The series remained physical, with notable interactions between players such as Chet Holmgren and Vassell during the second quarter.
The Thunder entered the contest as 3.5-point favorites at DraftKings Sportsbook. However, San Antonio’s structured execution and historical milestone performances have shifted the momentum, ensuring the Western Conference Finals will conclude with a decisive showdown in Oklahoma City.
