SportsLine model predicts BMW Championship outcomes ahead of FedEx Cup Playoffs
A proprietary simulation tool has released its projections for the 2026 BMW Championship, identifying Scottie Scheffler as the favourite while flagging Tommy Fleetwood as a value bet.

SportsLine has released its betting predictions for the 2026 BMW Championship, the second event of the FedEx Cup Playoffs scheduled to commence at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis, Missouri. The analysis utilises a proprietary model developed by Mike McClure, which simulated the tournament 10,000 times to identify value bets and project the leaderboard.
Scottie Scheffler is the betting favourite at +310 odds via FanDuel Sportsbook. This position reflects his dominant performance in the opening event of the 2026 FedEx Cup Playoffs, the FedEx St. Jude Championship, which he won by eight strokes. Despite not winning any majors in 2026, Scheffler remains atop the points standings with a significant lead and is one of 50 golfers who advanced to the current field.
The model’s simulations have produced surprising results regarding other top contenders. Ludvig Åberg, who is tied for the second-best odds at +1500, is identified as a potential underperformer in the projections. Although Åberg has recorded two straight top-10 finishes, the model notes he barely cracks the top 10 in its simulations. His previous finish at this event was T2, a result heavily influenced by a second-round 63, while he has remained winless this season.
In contrast, the model highlights Tommy Fleetwood at +2200 as a strong win contender and a value top-5 bet. Fleetwood has finished in the top 25 in 13 of his 17 events this season, including eight top-10 finishes and four top-5 results. The analysis cites his accuracy off the tee as a significant asset for the course layout, where players must avoid thick rough.
Other top contenders listed in the odds include Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele, both at +1500 and +1600 respectively. The model also targets a specific longshot at approximately +3000 odds to make a strong run up the leaderboard, though the specific player is not named in the public summary.
SportsLine notes that the model has a track record of predicting 17 major championships, including the 2026 Masters, which marked its fifth consecutive Masters prediction, as well as the previous year’s PGA Championship and Open Championship.
