Speedo unveils iQ module to track all four swim strokes
The new removable accessory for Vanquisher goggles monitors head movement and breaths without a built-in display, offering a subscription-free alternative to existing smart eyewear.

Speedo has released a new smart module for its Vanquisher goggles, designed to analyse a swimmer’s performance across all four competitive strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. The launch positions the brand in the growing market for wearable swim technology, offering a data-driven approach to training and competition.
The iQ system utilises swim-specific sensors to monitor head movement in the water, time breaths, and track distance per stroke. Rather than relying on a built-in display, a feature found in competitor products such as those from Form, the module automatically transmits data to an accompanying application. This allows swimmers to review their performance metrics once they exit the water.
For investors and consumers alike, the pricing structure offers a point of differentiation. The Vanquisher goggles, when bundled with the iQ module, are priced at $189. The set is available for order now in a variety of colours. Notably, the system does not require a subscription fee, reducing the long-term cost of ownership for dedicated users.
The module is also designed for practicality, as it is removable and transferable to other pairs of Vanquisher goggles. This feature ensures that if the goggles need to be replaced, the smart technology can be retained, adding value to the initial purchase.
The device has also secured a significant endorsement from the sport’s governing body. Speedo notes that the iQ system is legal for use during World Aquatics competitions, a crucial detail for elite athletes seeking to integrate technology into their competitive routines without facing regulatory hurdles.
The release follows a broader trend in sports equipment towards digital integration, with manufacturers seeking to provide granular performance data to athletes. By focusing on sensor-based tracking rather than visual displays, Speedo aims to streamline the user experience while maintaining compliance with international competition standards.
