Sony delays PS5 FlexStrike fight stick launch amid production issues
The $199.99 wireless controller, originally timed to coincide with the Arc System Works title, is now subject to an unspecified postponement.

Sony has announced a postponement for the release of its FlexStrike wireless fight stick, citing unexpected production delays. The peripheral, designed for use with PlayStation 5 and PC systems, was originally scheduled to debut on 6 August. The timing was strategically aligned with the launch of Marvel Tokōn: Fighting Souls, a fighting game developed by Arc System Works and published by PlayStation.
In a statement posted to the PlayStation blog, the company confirmed that the FlexStrike will now launch at a later, yet-to-be-determined date. “Due to unexpected production delays, FlexStrike wireless fight stick will launch at a later date. We will share an update soon,” Sony stated, indicating that further details regarding the new timeline will be provided in the near future.
The FlexStrike is priced at $199.99 and is positioned as a dedicated input device for fighting game enthusiasts. The controller features a design that mimics traditional arcade cabinets, with familiar PlayStation buttons laid flat rather than angled. It also includes a built-in rechargeable battery and is supplied with a sling carry case for portability.
The delay disrupts Sony’s coordinated launch strategy for the accessory. The fight stick was intended to capitalise on the release of Marvel Tokōn: Fighting Souls, leveraging the game’s launch to drive peripheral sales. With the controller now decoupled from the game’s 6 August release window, consumers seeking to purchase the hardware alongside the title will need to wait for the updated announcement.
Sony has not disclosed the specific nature or expected duration of the production issues affecting the FlexStrike. As no user reviews or performance data are currently available, the impact of the delay on consumer demand remains unclear. The company has committed to providing a further update on the release schedule once the production timeline is clarified.
