SMU survives Florida State after delay and late field goal
Kevin Jennings threw for 430 yards and three touchdowns as No. 19 SMU beat Florida State 27–24 after a nearly two-hour power outage delay.
No. 19 SMU defeated Florida State 27–24 at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee after Nick Reed kicked a 20-yard field goal with 21 seconds remaining, according to ESPN.
SMU quarterback Kevin Jennings completed 26 of 36 passes for 430 yards and three touchdowns despite throwing two interceptions. His touchdown passes included a 50-yard connection with Jalen Cooper and a 10-yard score to Randy Pittman.
The Mustangs produced 585 offensive yards and converted eight of 14 third-down attempts. Jennings connected with nine receivers, including Yannick Smith, who had five receptions for 107 yards and a touchdown.
The game was delayed for nearly two hours because of a reported power outage at the stadium. SMU also produced two fourth-quarter scoring drives before Reed’s late kick settled the result.
SMU is scheduled to host FCS team UC Davis in its next game.
