SMU–Florida State kickoff delayed nearly two hours by stadium power outage

The Atlantic Coast Conference opener between No. 19 SMU and Florida State has been delayed by nearly two hours after a power outage at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee.

ESPN reported that the stadium lights went out at about 7.30 p.m. ET, shortly before the originally scheduled kickoff, after a transformer failed on the west side of the stadium.

The game is set to begin at 9.15 p.m. ET, subject to confirmation, with the stadium operating on limited power. Players were announced to have a 10-minute warm-up before the revised kickoff.

The scoreboard is expected to remain offline, with the game clock kept on the field. Many communication systems between coaches and players were also reported to be unavailable.

Florida State entered the match with a 1–0 record, while SMU was making its season debut. The teams had taken the field before the delay and were later sent back to their locker rooms.
