Windsor’s flat-season finale sets up novice stakes clash
Wootz, Song Of The Clouds and debutant Crown Of Crowns headline Monday’s Windsor card, while William Yeats renews his rivalry with Aimeric at Sedgefield.
Windsor’s final flat fixture of the season headlines Monday’s horse-racing programme, with the Novice Stakes bringing together Wootz and Song Of The Clouds.
Wootz returns after winning by six-and-a-half lengths at Ffos Las last month. The Roger Varian-trained runner carries a 7lb penalty, while William Haggas’ Song Of The Clouds receives 5lb after winning at Redcar.
Crown Of Crowns is also set to make her debut for Haggas, with Tom Marquand riding. She is a half-sister to Arc winner Waldgeist and is by Frankel out of Waldlerche.
The Windsor card also includes Journalism, who represents Wathnan with James Doyle riding for Hamad Al Jehani. The horse cost 270,000gns.
Saffie Osborne has three rides at Windsor, following her achievement of becoming the first woman to win a British Classic when she rode Highwayman in the St Leger. At Sedgefield, William Yeats carries a 6lb penalty after beating Aimeric over the same course and distance last month.
The meeting also features a Mares’ Maiden Hurdle involving Tralee Girl. The assessments of the runners remain prospective, with the races yet to be decided.
