India take 1–0 T20I lead after Abhishek Sharma’s 82
India chased Afghanistan’s 156/8 to win the opening match by seven wickets at Ferozeshah Kotla.

India have taken a 1–0 lead in the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan after completing a seven-wicket win at Ferozeshah Kotla.
Abhishek Sharma scored 82 as India chased Afghanistan’s 156/8, with Ishan Kishan contributing 42 from 33 balls. The result followed India’s recent T20I series defeat in Ireland and losses in both the T20I and ODI series in England.
As reported by Yahoo Sports, Sharma said one or two poor series would not define India’s aggressive batting approach. He said the team would continue to trust its plan to play aggressively and seek to dominate opponents, even when the approach did not always succeed.
India captain Shreyas Iyer credited the team’s collective effort and praised Jasprit Bumrah for setting the tone. Bumrah dismissed Rahmanullah Gurbaz in the first over, while Arshdeep Singh and India’s spinners helped restrict Afghanistan to 156/8.
Afghanistan captain Ibrahim Zadran said the total was insufficient and described his run-out by Kishan as a turning point. He also said Gurbaz, who was dismissed for a duck, would return stronger.
