SEC appoints five new members to Small Business Capital Formation Advisory Committee
The US Securities and Exchange Commission has named five new appointees to the Small Business Capital Formation Advisory Committee for four-year terms, bringing the total number of Commission-appointed members to 20.
The US Securities and Exchange Commission has announced the appointment of five new members to its Small Business Capital Formation Advisory Committee. The appointees have been selected for four-year terms and will join 15 existing Commission-appointed members, expanding the core advisory group responsible for guiding policy on small business capital formation.
SEC Chairman Paul S Atkins issued a statement thanking the new members for their willingness to serve. He highlighted the committee’s critical role in advising the Commission on facilitating capital formation for entrepreneurs across the country. Atkins noted that the SEC would benefit from the collective experiences of the new appointees as it seeks to improve pathways and access to capital for small businesses in both private and public markets.
The expanded committee provides advice and recommendations to the Commission on rules, regulations, and policy matters relating to small businesses, including smaller public companies. Members represent a broad spectrum of entrepreneurs, investors, and advisers who work with early-stage private companies and smaller public entities.
In addition to the 20 appointed members, the committee structure includes three non-voting members appointed by the SEC’s Investor Advocate, the North American Securities Administrators Association, and the Small Business Administration. An observer appointed by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority also participates in proceedings.
