Broadcom lifts projected Anthropic deployment of Google TPU hardware
Broadcom expects to deploy 1 gigawatt of Ironwood for Anthropic in 2026, followed by projected TPU v8i deployments totalling 15 gigawatts across 2027 and 2028.

Broadcom expects to deploy Google TPU-based custom AI hardware for Anthropic at a substantially larger scale over the next three years, according to its 2 September management outlook reported by Yahoo Finance.
The company said it expects to deploy 1 gigawatt of Ironwood hardware for Anthropic in 2026, followed by 5 gigawatts of TPU v8i deployments in 2027 and a further 10 gigawatts in 2028.
The arrangement combines Broadcom’s custom AI hardware and networking components with Google’s TPU technology. Broadcom’s 6 April filing described agreements to develop and supply future Google TPUs and related rack components through as late as 2031.
That filing separately referred to Anthropic accessing approximately 3.5 gigawatts of next-generation TPU capacity through Broadcom from 2027, subject to Anthropic’s continued commercial success. The earlier contractual disclosure should not be treated as equivalent to the newer 2026–28 deployment expectations.
Broadcom reported US$16.7 billion in AI semiconductor revenue for its third quarter, up 221 per cent year on year, and forecast US$21.7 billion for the fourth quarter. Those figures are company-wide and do not isolate revenue or margins linked to Anthropic.
Alphabet reported 82 per cent growth in Google Cloud revenue in the June quarter, with operating income of US$8.814 billion. The disclosures do not establish the revenue, margins or profit that either Broadcom or Alphabet will receive from the Anthropic arrangement, nor do they distinguish hardware shipped from capacity installed, available or consumed.
