Seahawks to waive Kenny McIntosh as roster reshapes around new additions

The Seattle Seahawks are set to waive running back Kenny McIntosh, according to a report by ESPN’s Brady Henderson. The move signals a shift in the team’s backfield composition as they look to solidify their roster ahead of the upcoming season.

McIntosh, who was selected in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft, has faced significant hurdles since entering the league. He suffered a torn ACL in his left knee during a training camp practice 366 days ago and remains on the active/physically unable to perform list.

During his rookie campaign, McIntosh saw limited action, recording just 13 special teams snaps across three games. He returned to the field in 2024, appearing in every game of the season. Over that period, he accumulated 172 rushing yards on 31 carries, caught three passes for 22 yards, and returned six kickoffs for 153 yards.

The decision to part ways with McIntosh coincides with the Seahawks’ recent efforts to bolster their running back corps. The organisation added depth by selecting Jadarian Price with a first-round pick and signing Emanuel Wilson in free agency.

The roster adjustment also comes as the team anticipates the return of Zach Charbonnet, who is recovering from a torn ACL. With new talent added and key players returning, the Seahawks are restructuring their offensive options.
