LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt doubtful for Ole Miss clash
An unspecified upper-body injury has put LSU’s starting quarterback in doubt ahead of Saturday’s top-10 meeting in Oxford.
LSU has listed quarterback Sam Leavitt as doubtful for Saturday’s top-10 game at Ole Miss, according to the school’s first availability report.
The designation follows a Wednesday practice in which Leavitt did not throw, CBS Sports reported. LSU has not identified the nature of his upper-body injury, and his absence has not been confirmed.
Leavitt was not visibly injured during LSU’s win over Louisiana Tech, when he recorded 366 total yards and four touchdowns after throwing three interceptions in the first half.
Husan Longstreet is LSU’s listed backup quarterback and has limited game experience. He completed one pass for 33 yards in LSU’s season-opening win over Clemson, according to the source material.
LSU also listed wideout Phillip Wright III, linebacker Jaiden Bracker and running back Raycine Guillory Jr. as out. Linebackers TJ Dottery and Tylen Singleton were marked questionable.
Under Southeastern Conference reporting rules, doubtful indicates that a player is unlikely to play. Leavitt’s final status is expected 90 minutes before kick-off.
