Trevor Lawrence enters early NFL MVP discussion after four-touchdown win
The Jacksonville quarterback completed 18 of 23 passes for 245 yards and four touchdowns in a 34–10 win over Cleveland.
Trevor Lawrence has moved into the early NFL MVP conversation after leading the Jacksonville Jaguars to a 34–10 victory over the Cleveland Browns.
Lawrence completed 18 of 23 passes for 245 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. Fox Sports reported that he recorded a league-leading 150.6 passer rating, was sacked once and completed passes to nine different receivers.
His downfield passing was particularly effective. According to Next Gen Stats figures reported by Fox Sports, Lawrence completed 10 of 11 passes thrown at least 10 air yards downfield for 179 yards and three touchdowns.
The performance extended a strong run for Lawrence and Jacksonville. Fox Sports says the Jaguars have won nine of their past 10 games, during which Lawrence completed 63.6 per cent of his passes for 2,461 yards, 26 touchdowns and seven interceptions, with a 109.0 passer rating.
Lawrence was reportedly an MVP finalist for the first time in 2025. Fox Sports reported that he was tied with Brock Purdy at 14-to-1 odds for the award, while Josh Allen led the market at the time.
Jacksonville’s next game is against Denver, presenting a tougher test against a Broncos defence described by Fox Sports as one of the league’s best.
