Samsung unveils 1,100Hz gaming monitor and expanded Odyssey lineup at Gamescom
The South Korean tech giant displayed four new high-performance displays, headlined by a monitor with a refresh rate exceeding previous prototypes.
Samsung has expanded its Odyssey gaming monitor range at Gamescom, introducing a quartet of new models designed for high-performance gaming. The headline product is the 27-inch Odyssey G6, which the company bills as the world’s first 1,100Hz gaming monitor. This final refresh rate is notably higher than the 1,040Hz prototype Samsung unveiled ahead of CES last year, pushing the specifications into territory intended for the most demanding esports scenarios.
The Odyssey G6 features an IPS display with a 1ms response time. To achieve the maximum 1,100Hz refresh rate, users must operate at 1080p resolution. Alternatively, the monitor supports 1440p at 600Hz through its Dual Mode feature. Samsung expects the G6 to be available in the second half of 2026, although pricing details have yet to be revealed.
The broader lineup includes the 32-inch Odyssey OLED G8, a 4K monitor capable of switching between three different refresh rates. It offers 4K at 360Hz, 1440p at 520Hz, and 1080p at 680Hz. The display supports FreeSync Premium Pro and G-Sync, and includes Samsung’s Glare Free anti-reflection coating to reduce reflections during daytime play.
Also on display was the 49-inch Odyssey OLED G9, described as a world-first at that size. It features a QD-OLED Penta Tandem panel with a peak brightness of 1,300 nits and a standard refresh rate of 360Hz at DQHD resolution (5,120 x 1,440). When switched to 2,560 x 720 Dual HD mode, the refresh rate can be increased to 720Hz.
Rounding off the new additions is the Odyssey OLED G7, a 42-inch curved OLED monitor with a 16:9 aspect ratio. It offers a 165Hz refresh rate, 1000R curvature, and a maximum resolution of 4K. The source material refers to this model as part of the 2027 Odyssey lineup, though specific release dates for the G7, G8, and G9 remain unannounced.
Pricing for all four monitors has not yet been disclosed, leaving investors and consumers to await further announcements from the manufacturer.
