Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Buds On, its first clip-on earbuds, for its South Korean market. Sales are scheduled to begin on 27 October at 299,000 won.

The open-ear design clips onto the side of the ear, leaving the canal uncovered. Similar designs have been used by Bose, Huawei and Shokz. Samsung’s model includes a TwinBoost speaker system, touch controls, automatic volume adjustment and a voice-isolating feature for calls.

Samsung says the speaker system is intended to increase bass and that the buds’ wide contact area distributes pressure for comfort. The available source provides no independent testing of those claims. Open-ear designs can also allow sound to leak.

Compatible Galaxy devices get additional features, including head gestures for call control, Gemini Live support and Quick Voice Memo, activated by holding the touch area.

Samsung says a global rollout will follow, but has not named regions, dates or prices. The South Korean launch is listed in black only.
