Sabalenka and Djokovic headline second edition of US Open Mixed Doubles Championship
The all-star field for the reimagined tournament at Flushing Meadows has been confirmed, with top-ranked singles players set to compete before the main US Open begins.
Aryna Sabalenka and Novak Djokovic will lead an all-star field in the second edition of the reimagined US Open Mixed Doubles Championship, scheduled to take place from 24 to 26 August 2026 at Flushing Meadows. The pair, who hold the lowest combined singles ranking among direct entrants, will be joined by other top-ranked professionals in a tournament designed to precede the main US Open event, which commences on 30 August.
Direct entry has been confirmed for six teams, including Elena Rybakina and Taylor Fritz, Diana Shnaider and Daniil Medvedev, and Iga Swiatek and Casper Ruud, who were the runners-up in the previous edition. Also securing direct spots are Belinda Bencic and Flavio Cobolli, as well as Amanda Anisimova and Learner Tien. The selection process prioritised the best combined singles or doubles rankings for these direct entries.
Wild card entries have been issued to several high-profile pairs, including two-time defending champions Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori. Other wild card recipients are Alex Eala and Felix Auger-Aliassime, Leylah Fernandez and Frances Tiafoe, Taylor Townsend and Alexander Zverev, and spouses Elina Svitolina and Gael Monfils. Three additional wild card pairs are yet to be announced.
The tournament format begins with a qualifying round on 24 August, where eight teams will compete for two entries into the main draw. The first round and quarter-finals are scheduled for 25 August, while the semi-finals and final will be played on 26 August. Matches through the semi-finals will use a best-of-three-set format with sets to four games, no-ad scoring, and a 10-point tie-break in lieu of a third set.
