Russian strikes injure at least 19 across Ukraine, officials say
Missile and drone attacks damaged homes, warehouses, offices and other infrastructure across Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia and Odesa, while Russia said industrial, energy and transport facilities were targeted.
At least 19 people were injured in Russian missile and drone strikes across Ukraine, Ukrainian officials said, as attacks targeted Kyiv, the Kyiv region, Zaporizhzhia and Odesa.
Ukraine’s Air Force said it destroyed or suppressed 131 Russian aerial targets during the overnight attacks. Strikes were recorded at 36 locations, while debris from intercepted targets fell at five sites.
Odesa recorded seven injuries, including two children, according to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service. A high-rise apartment building was damaged, while a private home was destroyed and warehouses, a nursery school, cars and garages were also affected.
Authorities reported damage to warehouses, offices, residential buildings, vehicles and other structures across several Kyiv districts. In the Kyiv region, 33 sites were damaged in the Obukhiv, Brovary, Fastiv and Bucha districts, including homes, warehouses, production facilities and vehicles. No injuries were reported there.
Russia’s Defence Ministry said its forces struck metallurgical and electronics plants, military-industrial facilities, and energy and transport infrastructure. It also said three bulk carriers and a ferry at the port of Chornomorsk were hit. Those claims have not been independently verified.
The strikes came amid disputed claims about a US-announced pause on attacks against energy facilities. Al Jazeera reported that Ukraine’s energy providers are expecting another difficult winter after earlier Russian attacks placed heavy strain on the energy grid. Ukraine also reported a drone strike on an oil refinery in Yaroslavl and damage to Russian military aircraft and helicopters in Rostov, claims that were not independently confirmed.
