American expatriate Robin Allison Davis has spoken to FRANCE 24 about surviving two breast cancer diagnoses after moving to Paris, describing the personal process of coping with the trauma.

In an interview for FRANCE 24’s Perspective programme, Davis discussed healing and the role of self-kindness in managing her experience. She said being kind to herself was central to getting through it.

Davis also described writing and crying at the same time while working through what had happened. Her account presents those experiences as part of her personal response to illness and recovery, rather than as medical advice.

The interview coincides with the release of the paperback edition of Davis’s memoir, “Surviving Paris: A Memoir of Healing in the City of Light”. The book recounts her experience of healing in Paris.

The supplied account does not include clinical details about either diagnosis, treatment or recovery.
