Rillet raises $100M Series C at $1B valuation — 2 years after emerging from stealth
Markets & Finance

AI-native accounting startup Rillet has officially joined the unicorn club, announcing a $100 million Series C funding round at a $1 billion valuation. The round was led by ICONIQ, with participation from returning investors Andreessen Horowitz and Sequoia. This latest injection of capital brings the company’s total funding to more than $200 million, marking a significant milestone for the firm just two years after it emerged from stealth mode in 2024.

Rillet’s software is designed to assist finance professionals in managing company books by leveraging artificial intelligence to automate data collection. The platform can continuously pull data from various sources, including Salesforce and Brex, aiming to streamline the general ledger process. The company has positioned itself as a disruptor in the enterprise resource planning sector, challenging legacy systems such as NetSuite.

Co-founder and CEO Nicolas Kopp stated that the funding round closed in less than 48 hours, a speed he attributed to heightened investor interest. Kopp noted that the company was not initially planning to raise new capital, but the momentum shifted following a recent alliance with EY and significant growth in key performance metrics.

According to the company, Rillet has more than 600 corporate customers and has doubled its annual recurring revenue over the past three months. While these figures are self-reported and have not been independently audited, they underscore the rapid adoption of the platform in the enterprise market.

Seth Pierpont, a General Partner at ICONIQ, commented on the investment, stating that the firm backed Rillet’s vision of transforming the general ledger from a mere system of record into an operating system for finance. Pierpont added that this vision is now becoming reality, reflecting the investor confidence in the company’s trajectory.

The rapid valuation growth of Rillet highlights the continued fervour among investors for artificial intelligence startups, particularly those with the potential to disrupt established software providers. Although narratives of a "SaaSpocalypse" may be exaggerated, the market activity suggests significant structural changes are occurring within the enterprise software landscape.
