Retroid teases cable-free Pocket Duo dual-screen handheld
Retroid has revealed the Pocket Duo, a dual-screen handheld inspired by the Nintendo DS, but has yet to disclose specifications, pricing or a release date.
Retroid has teased the Pocket Duo, a cable-free dual-screen handheld aimed at the growing market for retro-style portable gaming devices.
The teaser, reported by Engadget, revealed the product name and showed only a dark outline of the device. Retroid did not announce display sizes, processor, operating system, game compatibility, pricing or launch timing.
The Pocket Duo follows Retroid’s experience with clamshell handhelds, including the Pocket Flip 2. The company also sells a Dual Screen Add-on that attaches a 5.5-inch AMOLED screen to compatible handhelds, but the Pocket Duo appears to use an integrated design without a cable or clip.
Other dual-screen handhelds currently include the Anbernic RG DS, Ayaneo Pocket DS and Ayn Thor. However, the limited teaser does not establish how Retroid’s device will compare with those products.
Retroid described the Pocket Duo as inspired by the Nintendo DS, but has not confirmed support for Nintendo DS games or provided details about its performance and software.
