Readers choose Mansfield News Journal athlete of the week

The Mansfield News Journal has opened reader voting for its Male Athlete of the Week, recognising performances from Sept. 21–26. Voting is scheduled to close at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2.
The nominees include area boys soccer and golf performers. The supplied nominee list is cut off before it is complete.
Among the soccer performances listed, Madison’s Isaiah Blust had three goals and four assists in an 11-2 win over West Holmes. Ontario’s Gavin Wagner scored all four goals in a 4-2 win over Mansfield Christian.
In golf, Madison’s Brandon Maglott took medalist honours at the Division I sectional with a 74. Crestview’s Cole Bowman finished second at the Division III sectional with a 73.
Madison’s Jackson Brummett won the previous week’s award with 4,484 votes, the Mansfield News Journal reported. The current result has not been decided.
