Ravens projected to open season with Jackson, Henry and a reshaped interior
Yahoo Sports projects Baltimore’s Week 1 offence around Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry, with new interior linemen and Declan Doyle taking charge as offensive coordinator.
The Baltimore Ravens are projected to build their Week 1 offence around quarterback Lamar Jackson and running back Derrick Henry when they open the NFL regular season away against Indianapolis.
The projection from Yahoo Sports places Declan Doyle in his first season as Baltimore’s offensive coordinator, with the scheme set to incorporate several new pieces. Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman are projected to retain their starting receiver roles, while Ja’Kobi Lane is the strongest candidate to line up as the third receiver.
The offensive line represents the largest projected change. Ronnie Stanley and Roger Rosengarten are expected to return at tackle, while John Simpson, Ethan Pocic and Vega Ioane are projected to form a new interior. Pocic is listed at centre, although Jovaughn Gwyn remains a strong alternative because of his familiarity with offensive line coach Dwayne Ledford’s system.
Henry is expected to handle most of the carries, with Justice Hill retaining a third-down and change-of-pace role. Rasheen Ali could take on more responsibility, while Adam Randall is stated to begin the season on injured reserve.
Mark Andrews remains the projected starting tight end, with Durham Smythe, Matt Hibner and Josh Cuevas in reserve. Tyler Huntley is listed behind Jackson, while Joe Fagnano is projected as the developmental third quarterback.
The depth chart is a projection rather than a confirmed team announcement, and competition remains possible for several situational roles, including the receiver positions behind Flowers, Bateman and Lane.
