Glacier Range Riders bring explosive start home
Baseball club tied for best six-game record in franchise history ahead of homestand opener

The Glacier Range Riders return to Glacier Bank Park on Tuesday night to begin a six-game homestand against the Great Falls Voyagers, carrying a 5-1 record from their opening road trip through Great Falls and Billings. The club’s start ties for the best six-game record in the franchise’s five-year history, marking a significant shift in institutional performance since its inception.

Offensive production has been the primary driver of this early success, with the team scoring 64 runs and hitting .313 as a unit. The organization attributes this surge not merely to power, but to a revised approach at the plate focused on patience and fouling off two-strike pitches. This strategy has resulted in franchise records for walks in consecutive games, extending at-bats and forcing opposing pitchers into longer innings.

Assistant General Manager of Baseball Kyle Spencer noted that the offseason strategy specifically targeted hitters with proven offensive approaches, including those from the MLB Draft League, to address consistency issues from the 2025 season. Jacob Steele leads the club with 13 RBIs and a .370 batting average, while Donovan Ratfield is hitting .500 with eight RBIs. Logan Beard and Joe McLauglin have each recorded 11 hits, providing stability throughout the lineup.

Pitching has also contributed to the strong start, with Jonah Giblin holding a 2-0 record and a 1.54 ERA in two starts. Jake Covey struck out seven batters over six innings in his professional debut, while relievers Jacob Hasty and Jack Maruskin have provided late-inning stability. The staff’s resilience was tested by a 22-7 loss to Billings, but the team responded with a composed 5-2 victory the following day, a reaction leadership cited as indicative of the club’s mentality.

The organization continues to emphasise player development alongside immediate results, pointing to an alumni wall in the clubhouse that honours former players who have reached Major League Baseball. Carson Garner, who has shown marked improvement after a difficult 2025 season, is viewed as a key figure in carrying the team forward. The homestand opener is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. at Glacier Bank Park.
