Poseidon Aerospace raises $60 million ahead of uncrewed cargo aircraft test
The Series A funding comes as the startup prepares to test its fixed-wing Egret aircraft by the end of 2026.
Poseidon Aerospace has raised $60 million in Series A funding ahead of a planned test flight of its uncrewed Egret cargo aircraft by the end of 2026, TechCrunch reported.
The round was led by TQ Ventures, with participation from Hanwha Asset Management, G Squared, JAWS and existing backers Starship Ventures, Draper Associates and Drover Ventures. Poseidon previously raised $11 million in seed funding.
The startup is developing fixed-wing aircraft powered by combustion engines for defence and regional commercial cargo. Its planned aircraft has a 50-foot wingspan, while a seaplane variant is called Heron.
Poseidon says it is targeting remote communities and regional routes where infrastructure is limited or degraded. Rather than sell the aircraft, the company plans to operate its own regional air-cargo service.
The company developed and flew a quarter-scale prototype, called Seagull, last year. It has since expanded into an aircraft hangar in Alameda, California, and plans to hire as it prepares for the full-size aircraft’s first flight.
