A poll by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research found 69 per cent of US adults surveyed believe the US-Israeli war on Iran has not been worth fighting. The figure is five percentage points higher than in July.

The survey of more than 2,000 adults also found 71 per cent disapprove of President Donald Trump’s handling of Iran.

The findings come as Trump begins campaigning for November’s midterm elections. The poll also recorded low approval of his handling of domestic economic pressures: 17 per cent approved of his handling of the cost of living and 26 per cent of his handling of the economy overall.

About half of respondents said they were highly concerned about affording food, while a similar share were deeply concerned about being able to fill their fuel tanks. Concern about fuel costs was up from 39 per cent in July.

More than half of respondents said the economy and the country were worse off since Trump returned to office in 2025. The supplied poll summary does not include field dates, a margin of error or detailed methodology.
