The Phillies took an immediate advantage in the first inning when Kyle Schwarber hit a home run just three pitches into the game. Bryson Stott followed with an RBI single, extending the lead to 2-0. Although the Twins mounted a brief rally in the same inning, a strikeout by Josh Bell and a defensive play by Trea Turner prevented further scoring.
