CBS Sports analyst Pete Prisco has published his predictions for the opening round of the 2026 NFL season, tipping Seattle to beat New England, Buffalo to defeat Houston and Kansas City to overcome Denver.

Prisco predicted Seattle would again beat New England in a rematch of the previous February’s Super Bowl. He also backed Buffalo to end a six-game losing run against the Texans in Houston.

The Bills pick comes despite what Prisco described as Josh Allen’s past difficulties against Houston’s defence. He expects Buffalo to take a more aggressive approach against the Texans, including pressure on quarterback C.J. Stroud.

Kansas City’s selection centres on Patrick Mahomes’ expected first start since tearing his ACL. Prisco acknowledged the uncertainty around Mahomes’ condition but tipped the Chiefs to prevail at home against a strong Denver defence.

Prisco also selected the Rams, Steelers, Ravens, Bears, Jaguars, Lions, Jets, Bengals, Chargers, Packers, Raiders, Eagles and Cowboys. He said Week 1 is particularly difficult to predict because teams’ form, coaching impacts and returning injured players remain uncertain.

The selections are forecasts rather than confirmed results, and the supplied material does not include final scores or independent evidence supporting the predictions.
