Paul brothers’ Pentagon visit draws scrutiny over its purpose

Logan and Jake Paul’s visit to the Pentagon has prompted criticism on social media, while its purpose and the format of their engagement with troops and officials remain unclear.

The brothers visited on Thursday and shared photos and videos over the weekend. Their posts showed them meeting US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth and, in a separate meeting, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

Former Republican congressman Adam Kinzinger criticised the appearance, writing that the country was not serious. Progressive outlet MeidasTouch Network also mocked the visit. The comments formed part of wider criticism online.

Jake Paul defended the visit in a post, saying he preferred to ask questions, learn, challenge ideas and build relationships rather than criticise from behind a screen.

The Pentagon has hosted public figures under several administrations for military entertainment, film research and discussions about civilian-military ties. Al Jazeera noted that the Paul brothers’ visit comes amid efforts to promote martial arts and fitness among service members and ahead of Hegseth’s planned “State of the Force” address, but did not establish either as the reason for their appearance.
