Packers rule Jayden Reed out after high hit against Jets

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed was carted off on a spine board after taking a high hit from New York Jets linebacker Demario Davis early in the teams’ NFL game.

Reed was injured on the second play from scrimmage after catching a short pass from quarterback Jordan Love. He remained on the field before being taken away, and the Packers ruled him out for the remainder of the game.

No diagnosis, prognosis or recovery timeline was provided in the report from CBS Sports. The confirmed status is limited to Reed’s removal from the match.

The 26-year-old is in his fourth season with Green Bay after being selected 50th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. He missed 10 games last season after breaking his collarbone and suffering a Jones fracture in his foot, injuries that required two surgeries.

Reed recently signed a three-year, US$50 million contract extension. With running back Josh Jacobs also absent, second-year receiver Matthew Golden could take on a larger role in the Packers’ offence.
