Ole Miss climbs to No. 4 as SEC places 10 teams in AP Top 25
Ole Miss moved into the top five after beating LSU, while Texas A&M suffered the poll’s sharpest decline following its loss to Kentucky.
Ole Miss has risen to No. 4 in The Associated Press Top 25 college football poll after defeating LSU 32–24, its first top-five ranking since finishing No. 3 in last season’s final poll.
LSU fell three places to No. 10, while Texas retained the top position for a second consecutive week. Georgia, Notre Dame and Indiana completed the top five.
Texas A&M dropped from No. 9 to No. 23 after a 31–21 home loss to unranked Kentucky. Louisville made the week’s biggest gain, climbing seven places to No. 16 after beating SMU 41–31. SMU fell six places to No. 22.
Florida entered the rankings at No. 21 after a 44–39 win over Auburn, while Mississippi State returned at No. 24 following its 41–34 victory over South Carolina. Oklahoma and Virginia dropped out of the poll.
The rankings, reported by Fox Sports, give the Southeastern Conference 10 teams in the regular-season poll for the seventh time in its history. The conference previously had a record 11 ranked teams in consecutive polls last September.
