The Orioles extended their advantage with six runs in the second inning, opening the frame with four consecutive singles before adding a double and another single. Toronto starter Max Scherzer completed five innings, allowing seven hits and six earned runs.
Toronto responded with a run in the fourth inning and another in the sixth. Kazuma Okamoto hit a solo home run, while Andrés Giménez drove in the sixth-inning run after Nathan Lukes singled and Okamoto doubled.
