Nvidia has raised the US price of its Shield TV Pro streaming device to US$299.99 from US$199.99. The increase took effect on 2 October, according to WIRED, which reported Nvidia’s statement to Ars Technica.

Nvidia attributed the change to substantial increases in component costs across the industry, including memory. The company did not detail how much any individual component contributed to the higher price.

The latest Shield TV Pro dates to 2019, when it launched at US$199.99. Nvidia told Ars Technica earlier this year that it continues to manufacture the device and sells each unit it produces.

The non-Pro Shield model, which launched at US$149.99, has been discontinued. The Pro remains in production and is known for its codec support and ability to run a Plex server, as well as its streaming functions.

WIRED reported that the Shield TV Pro was available at the new price through Best Buy, while Nvidia’s store listing was out of stock.
