Notre Dame overwhelms Wisconsin 41–13 at Lambeau Field
Notre Dame turned a major college football fixture at the Green Bay Packers’ home ground into a large-scale fan and community event.
Notre Dame defeated Wisconsin 41–13 at Lambeau Field on 6 September, overcoming a 13–10 half-time deficit to win by 28 points.
The game formed the centrepiece of a weekend of activity in Green Bay, including Badger Bash North in the city centre and a Notre Dame rally in the Titletown district west of the stadium. Yahoo Sports described an atmosphere shaped by extensive tailgating, large marching bands and appearances by both teams’ mascots.
A Notre Dame mass was also held in a car park near the stadium. Supporters travelled from several US states, while many fans described the visit as a bucket-list trip and attended Lambeau Field for the first time.
The event brought a college-style crowd to the home of the NFL’s Green Bay Packers, with pedestrians and tailgaters filling areas around the stadium before kick-off. Packers superfans also attended, wearing Notre Dame colours or supporting Wisconsin for the day.
Wisconsin’s victory over LSU 10 years earlier had been its previous appearance at Lambeau Field. The loss leaves the Badgers with a 1–1 record at the venue, while the match drew attention from local businesses benefiting from visitor spending.
