BREAKING: Former Penn guard Dylan Williams transfers to Northwestern men’s basketball
Former Penn guard joins Wildcats for final year of eligibility

Northwestern University men’s basketball has secured its eighth transfer of the current cycle with the addition of former University of Pennsylvania guard Dylan Williams. The move, confirmed by Williams to Conor Smith of the Philadelphia Inquirer on Friday evening, positions the guard for his final year of collegiate eligibility with the Wildcats.

Williams, a native of Columbia, South Carolina, brings a diverse background to Evanston, having played at two junior colleges before completing his degree at UPenn. He graduated from the Ivy League institution just two weeks prior to the announcement, marking the end of a collegiate journey that included significant time at the junior college level.

The transfer follows a season where Williams’ playing time was limited. He appeared in only seven games for the Quakers last year before an injury cut his campaign short. Prior to that disruption, during the 2024-25 season, he was a regular contributor, appearing in 25 of 27 games, starting 11, and averaging 17.0 minutes per contest.

During the 2024-25 season, Williams posted averages of 4.4 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. His experience across multiple levels of college basketball is expected to provide depth to Northwestern’s guard room as the program looks to bolster its roster for the upcoming season.

Williams’ arrival continues a period of active roster construction for the Wildcats. He is the most recent addition since Colombian forward Ryan Soulis committed to the team on May 15. The influx of transfers suggests a strategic effort to revamp the squad with experienced players capable of immediate impact.
