NFL and Packers confirm awareness of Josh Jacobs arrest
Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs has been booked into Brown County Jail on charges including strangulation and battery, while his legal team issues a blanket denial and calls for judicial restraint.

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs was arrested on Tuesday, marking a significant legal development for the NFL franchise. Jacobs turned himself in to the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department and was subsequently booked into the Brown County Jail. The arrest follows an alleged domestic incident that occurred on 23 May, prompting a disturbance response from authorities at approximately 8:37 a.m. that day.
Jacobs faces five distinct charges stemming from the incident: domestic abuse battery, domestic abuse criminal damage to property, domestic abuse disorderly conduct, strangulation and suffocation, and intimidation of a victim. The Hobart-Lawrence Police Department has not released further details regarding the specifics of the case, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation.
In response to the charges, Jacobs’ legal team issued a statement outlining their position. Attorneys David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld, and Clarence Duhac stated that Jacobs vehemently denies the allegations. They characterised the matter as being in the early stages of investigation and noted that important evidence has not yet been made public. The legal counsel called for fairness and restraint while the judicial process unfolds.
The National Football League has acknowledged the situation. A league spokesperson confirmed that the NFL is aware of the report and has been in contact with the Packers. The organisation’s statement underscores the league’s monitoring of the legal proceedings without offering further commentary on the specific allegations at this stage.
Jacobs enters his third season with the Packers in 2026, having previously won the NFL rushing title with the Las Vegas Raiders four years prior. Last season, he recorded 929 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns, missing two games during the campaign. His career accolades include three Pro Bowl selections and a first-team All-Pro selection in 2022.
