Neko Health opens first US office in New York as Daniel Ek’s startup targets American market
The company, which recently secured $700 million in Series C funding, reports over 25,000 New Yorkers on its waitlist as it prepares to deploy proprietary body-scanning technology in the United States.
Neko Health, the health-scanning startup founded by Spotify co-founder Daniel Ek and Hjalmar Nilsonne, has officially opened its first United States office in Manhattan. The new facility is located at 300 Lafayette Street in SoHo, marking the company’s initial physical presence in the American market.
The startup is scheduled to formally launch its services in New York on September 24. According to company data, more than 25,000 residents have already joined a waitlist for the service, indicating significant early demand for its health assessment offerings in the city.
Neko Health utilises proprietary body-scanning technology that is integrated with bloodwork results and data from fitness devices to provide a comprehensive health assessment. The company, which currently operates locations in the United Kingdom and Sweden, stated last month that it had already conducted scans for 100,000 people globally.
The expansion comes shortly after Neko Health raised $700 million in a Series C funding round. The influx of capital supports the company’s growth strategy as it moves beyond its European operations to compete in the US health technology sector.
Neko Health operates in a competitive landscape that includes other ventures backed by prominent tech founders and venture capitalists. Competitors such as Fountain Life, co-founded by Tony Robbins and Peter Diamandis, and Function Health, which recently secured a $450 million loan from General Catalyst’s Customer Value Fund, are also active in the longevity and health assessment space.
Additionally, AI lab Midjourney is developing a body scanner intended for integration into a spa experience, with plans to open in San Francisco in 2027. These developments highlight a broader trend of technology companies entering the physical health diagnostics market.
