NASA+ streaming service expands to discovery+ and HBO Max
New platforms will offer Dolby Vision content, including the Artemis III mission, while the service remains free on official channels

NASA has announced the expansion of its NASA+ streaming service to two new major platforms, making its content available on discovery+ and HBO Max. The move marks a significant step in the agency’s strategy to distribute space exploration programming to broader audiences through established entertainment channels.
A continuous live feed of NASA+ programming is now accessible on discovery+ live channels. This integration allows viewers to access ongoing coverage without needing to navigate separate applications. The content will be streamed in Dolby Vision on supported devices, providing enhanced visual quality characterised by vivid colours, sharper contrast, and richer detail.
HBO Max will host NASA’s special events, with the Artemis III mission scheduled for 2027 cited as a key upcoming feature. The service aims to provide an immersive viewing experience for major milestones in space exploration. Future programming on these platforms may include science mission launches, test flights for rendezvous and docking with human landing systems, and robotic lunar deliveries.
Rebecca Sirmons, general manager of NASA+ at the agency’s Headquarters in Washington, stated that the expansion aligns with the National Aeronautics and Space Act of 1958, which mandates that NASA share its story with the broadest possible audience. She noted that the Artemis II mission previously captured global attention, inspiring what is referred to as the "Artemis generation," and that the goal is to provide transparent, engaging content coverage as the agency returns to the Moon to stay.
Despite the expansion to third-party platforms, NASA+ remains available for free, without advertisements, via the NASA app and the agency’s website. Earlier this year, during its Ignition event, NASA outlined plans to increase the cadence of Artemis missions to the lunar surface and build the first Moon Base, priorities that will be supported by these continuous streaming agreements.
