Polyarc, the Seattle-based developer of the virtual-reality games Moss and Moss: Book II, has closed after nearly 12 years, according to an announcement on the studio’s LinkedIn page.

The company said it was winding down active development and farewelling its staff. A reverse recruiting sheet shared alongside the announcement indicated that at least 29 former employees are now seeking work.

Polyarc’s Moss series became known for combining action-adventure gameplay with diorama-like virtual-reality environments, allowing players to control Quill, the games’ mouse protagonist. Moss was released on PlayStation VR and later ported to Oculus Quest, while Moss: Book II also reached SteamVR and Pico.

The studio’s other projects included Glassbreakers, a multiplayer strategy game for Apple Vision Pro. In May 2026, Polyarc released Moss: The Forgotten Relic, a non-VR compilation and reimagining of the series.

The closure comes as the broader virtual-reality ecosystem faces changes, including Meta’s shift towards artificial-intelligence products. However, the source does not establish the cause of Polyarc’s closure or the sales performance of its latest release. Polyarc’s games remain available to purchase.
